With a booming population of over 2.9 million, the City of Toronto is the 5th largest city in North America; a cool fact that’s become a hot prospect for vigilant real estate investors worldwide.

Outranked by Mexico City, New York, Los Angeles and Chicago, Toronto may sit humbly amongst its established company; but from multiculturism to thriving tourism, fantastical foodie fixes and Drake mixes there’s no denying that living in “the6ix” has become a coveted commodity.

With an array of diverse neighbourhoods spanning 630 km2, trying to tackle Toronto housing is no easy feat. Our team at Forest Hill Yorkville work with clients daily to help them achieve their real estate goals and knowing our neighbourhoods plays a critical role in our established success. From family-oriented urban pockets with sprawling parks to the city core and its mile-high million-dollar luxury views, Forest Hill Yorkville Realtors are tapped into the complex and evolving fabric of our city. Here’s a look at three areas of Toronto through the lens of our team of Realtors.

YORKVILLE

Yorkville is where Forest Hill Real Estate has a home so it’s fitting for us to start at our very own front door. Once a hippie hangout and breeding ground for some of Canada’s most noted musicians, including Joni Mitchell, Neil Yonge and Gordon Lightfoot, Yorkville is now Toronto’s top destination for luxury.

Yorkville features many quaint courtyards, charming Victorian homes, art galleries and luxury retail flagships like Chanel and Christian Louboutin. In addition to boasting some of the best high-end shopping in the city, Yorkville also offers the advantage of being centrally located with excellent access to public transit.

Real estate in Yorkville is largely comprised of luxury condos, followed by semi-detached Victorian homes and townhomes. If you are looking to invest in luxury real estate, Yorkville’s exclusive high-end developments and residences are sure to meet your search criteria. Forest Hill Yorkville’s team of 90 realtors are equipped with all the insight you need to navigate our niche neighbourhood.

LITTLE ITALY

Little Italy is a centrally located Toronto district that is known for its stylish restaurants and bars as well as its strong sense of community. As its name suggests, Toronto’s Italian community first settled in the area in the early 20th century. Today, Little Italy is much more diverse and home to a much wider spectrum of ethnicities including the city’s Latin-Canadian, Portuguese-Canadian, Mandarin, Cantonese and Chinese communities.

Little Italy typically enjoys a very high transit, walk and bike score. It is a family friendly downtown neighbourhood with great schools and is only a short distance away from the University of Toronto.  Semi-detached homes tend to dominate real estate in Little Italy, followed by condos and townhouses.

Little Italy is also home to a lot of renters who enjoy the district’s convenient location and amenities. Forest Hill Yorkville realtors are very active with listings and leases in Little Italy and can help you develop a strategy to secure a home in this highly sought-after area.

Quick Facts:

  • Little Italy falls within the Toronto Real Estate Board’s C01 “Palmerston-Little Italy” Community

KENSINGTON MARKET

Few neighbourhoods are as electrifying and vibrant as Toronto’s Kensington Market. It is a distinctly multicultural area that draws artists and tourists to its many vintage boutiques, bakeries, art spaces, food markets and indie shops. The annual “Kensington Market Festival of Lights” is a Winter Solstice celebration known for it’s wonderful theatrics and has grown very popular over the years.

Kensington narrow streets make driving and parking a challenge so many Kensington dwellers often prefer cycling and taking transit. Real estate in Kensington Market is largely comprised of condos, followed by townhouses and semi-detached houses.

This unique, artsy neighbourhood in the heart of the city attracts a very distinct clientele. Our Forest Hill Yorkville team of realtors can help you deconstruct the multiple layers of this fascinating area to target properties that are compatible with your lifestyle.
